Here is quite the most important picture taken of me. I felt so good to be alive. I had just come off USS DOLPHIN after the May 21st 2002 incident. I am in the center of the three sailors shown below.

The latest Chinese conventional submarine Named "GREAT WALL 218"

Above is two pictures of Chinese submarine "GREAT WALL 218" It was on display April 22, 2009 in the Chinese city of Qingdao. The Chinese were celebrating the 60th anniversary of the "Peoples Liberation Army" "PLA". The Chinese invited senior naval officers from 29 countries for tours of this submarine.

Great video of blowing off steam on a "Los Angeles" class submarine.

I was on the "Los Angeles" class submarine "USS BATON ROUGE", so these video shots of ANOTHER "Los Angeles" class submarine really brings back memories.

Here is the Dolphin coming into the San Diego Martime Museum pier. The sub on the left is the museums Russian "Foxtrot class" B-39. Evetually the Dolphin will be next to the Berkely on another pier. Here is a shot of the Dolphin's front (Bow area). This is one of the added stair's for the museum's visitors. There is two stairs added to the submarine Dolphin.

This is a picture of what originally was the only way on and off Dolphin. This is the submarine's only hatch.

The Dolphin arrived at the San Diego Maritime Museum around 930am (give or take a minute).

USSVI Convention - September 8-12, 2009

USSVI (Scamp base) San Diego is hosting the USSVI Convention'09. Here's the link to the convention page. It will be a joint convention - the International submariners association and the submariners association of Canada will also be there. Its going to be a BIG convention - so remember the date - September 8-12 2009.

Model of USS DOLPHIN AGSS-555

This is a model of AGSS-555 and it's spot on. I cannot find one photo showing "Dolphin's" port side as clearly as this. It's always taken from the Starboard side. Here you can see the ladder rungs on the portside. On the bridge shows the railing and bench for watch standers. In the rear/aft end (right side) you can see a white round "surface" radar.

The USS DOLPHIN is heading out to the open waters of the Pacific. It is coming from the direction of "Mare Island Naval Shipyard" in Vallejo, CA

Proposed new home for "USS DOLPHIN"

It has been proposed by San Diego Maritime Museum that the "port" side of the "Berkeley" will berth "USS DOLPHIN AGSS 555". This water front is on Harbor Drive in San Diego, CA. Nearby is the famous "Star of India". Will keep everyone up to date on the final decision of the its museum berthing spot.

This is a great picture of USS DOLPHIN AGSS-555. It has to be between 1999 and 2003 due to it's topside.

Update on Dolphin

20 dead in accident aboard russian sub

Reuters just put out this news article that at least 20 people are dead, approimately and 20 injured during sea trials aboard a russian submarine. Some of the dead/injured were from a shipbuilding company. It is believed to be possibly one of the worse accidents since the Kursk. Here's the link to the article. 202 people were aboard.

Oberon Class sumarine becomes museum

This is a picture of the Onodaga, an Oberon class submarine. There were 3 in existance, now 1 remains and will be a museum piece. The Oberon class were constructed circa 1960's and decommed in the 1990's. If you want to see this submarine, it will be stationed at the Musee de la Mer de Pointe-au-Pere in Rimouski, Quebec. It was sold to the museum from the government for 4 bucks plus tax. The link to the article is here. DPG

Dolphin Transfer to Maritime Museum

The USS DOLPHIN was transferred to the hands of the San Diego Maritime Museum in a ceremony in Washington D.C.

Exerpt from the San Diego Tribune:

"...Ownership of the one-of-a-kind research vessel was transferred Thursday to the Maritime Museum of San Diego in a ceremony that participants likened to a wedding service, with Navy officials on one side and museum representatives on the other..." Here's the link to the article.
